Petra I Column
PETRA (from the Greek word Πέτρα, meaning stone) celebrates the complexity and subtleties in the material composition in quartz that PETRA is made from.
Petra I Column presents a striking wall-mounted addition, reflecting the studio’s enduring fascination with quartz. As a material prized for its mythic origin, its strength and its luster, quartz has long been used to articulate sacred objects, including amulets, jewellery and decorative objects. The ancient Greeks believed quartz was eternally frozen ice, miraculous because it was divinely forged. A hand-finished brass rod suspends the studio’s signature quartz ‘slices’ in three directions, offering a sculptural array illuminated with light. Each piece embodies an individual stone biography, the resonance of formation made visible by the stone’s variance in coloration, transparency and natural veining.
Available in 3 variants: the Petra I Column 800 with 3 quartz crystal slices, the Petra I Column 1300 with 5 quartz crystal slices, and the Petra I Column 2300 with 9 quartz crystal slices.
