Bocci 118s/sp Sconce
The Bocci 118 Series is a sculpture alive like no other, with the memories of its creation trapped in each and every fiber of its opal glass construction. Glass has a memory—it holds onto shapes it was exposed to while still molten. The Bocci 118’s dozens of tiny feather-like forms in hand blown opal glass arise from this uncanny ability. When lit from within, the interior complexities of 118 come into even sharper detail. Air blown into its core pushes the molten glass into the recesses of a steel cage. Gravity and heat coax these unpredictable, multifarious tendrils to elongate, following the initial shape the steel has set for it. That cage, sheared off in a final step, is cleaned and used to seed another 118. In the 118 Wall and Ceiling, individual pendants are mounted onto a base finished either in white powder-coating or a brass finish, able to be both wall and ceiling mounted.
