Bocci

Bocci is a design and manufacturing company based in Vancouver and Berlin. The company is committed to fostering a lateral and open-ended relationship between creative direction and craft

Founded in 2005 under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel, the company launched with one lighting design, ‘14’, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller.  Bocci’s growing portfolio of sculptural lighting is developed, engineered and fabricated in-house, through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality and scale.

Bocci cultivates a fluid position, between the fields of architecture, sculpture, invention and design. Focal themes of his work include the intrinsic mechanical, physical, and chemical qualities of materials and the exploration of light as a medium. Arbel has long used substances in unexpected ways: concrete that resembles a slice of a tree stump, aluminum shaped into the coral-like arms of a chandelier and fabric pleats that replace the seat cushion of a chair.

Bocci designs have been featured in The New York Times, Dezeen Showroom, the Robb Report and Wallpaper to name a few.
